Ooga Booga Mini Shop!

We are so pumped to announce the opening (this Friday, November 20th) of The Ooga Booga Mini Shop within Keep's Fairfax store.  As the holidays are a time for family and community, we figured the best way to celebrate this time of year would be to team up with our good friend and longtime Keep family member, Wendy Yao!

For the Ooga Booga Mini Shop, thirty-one members of OB's community of artists, photographers, designers, and more have hand-selected their favorite gifts under $100.  That means a selection of fine fare, perfect for gifting, will be available on the West side (at least, more West than Chinatown) until the New Year.  See the invite below for the full list of contributors.

Also, while supplies last, Keep + Ooga Booga have made fresh fruit preserves and pickled beets in honor of our collaboration.  These limited edition jams and pickles used sustainable produce only!

Come to our opening event this Friday, November 20th, from 6pm - 9pm!
523 N. Fairfax Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90036

Ashley Thayer Quilts!

As the holidays approach, our Keep shop is opening up its doors to different products made by some of our favorite people and companies.  Each week we will be introducing more items, so stay tuned for more amazingness.

This week we are so pleased to present our very good friend and partner-in-crime, Ashley Thayer, and her incredible quilts.  Each one is a unique piece, measuring roughly 36"x45".  They are perfect for your bed, for your wall, for your babies, for your mamas, and much more.

Each quilt design is a variation of a traditional American block pattern using individually dyed fabrics; no two pieces are uniform.  We asked Ashley about her quilts and she told us how her work reflects her interest in flattening the perception of light and shadow and sunlight penetrating water.  She dyes all the fabric, sometimes multiple times, using low immersion and tie dye techniques.  Each quilt is hand pieced, sewn, and quilted in her LA studio on a very basic Singer sewing machine.

All quilts are 100% cotton and have been prewashed. Colors will not bleed. Please wash on gentle setting and lowest dryer setting.   Contact thayer@ashleythayer.com with inquiries. Custom sizes by request.

Check out some pics of the quilts we have available on our site.  More to come soon!

Holiday DOGalog!

My dad is a dog person.  He explained to me that when you look into a dog’s eyes, you can see a kind of unbridled happiness that few other animals have, never mind people.  In these often complicated times, I have to admit it’s very nice to stare into a sea of uncomplicated canine joy.

Since winter is a season of holidays and family, we thought dogs would be great companions to our Holiday 2009 collection. What better way to showcase our shoes than by bringing together our best friends and our favorite kicks?

With cotton chambray combos, Japanese milled ginghams and herringbones, and a touch of sheen in our watermarked moiré faille, we’re very pleased to present our Holiday season with its kaleidoscope of new fabrics and colors.

Here are a few shots from our Holiday DOGalog.  We hope you enjoy!
