Fear Is the Mindkiller

So I know it's been a really long time since we've updated this day to day section.  It should really be called "When I feel like it to When I feel like it."  Sorry for my inconsistency.  If there's one thing I hate it's inconsistency and I've devolved into a hypocritical sad sack with nothing to blog about.  Fact of the matter is that after all that holiday malaise, the crush of the New Year's catchup left me breathless.

Some of you saw the title of this post and knew instantly that I was talking about Muad Dib, the Kwisatz Haderat.  You would also be the person who laughs at Cylon jokes and use "frack" in your real life vocabulary.  Sci-fi nerds, I love you.  In this fear filled atmosphere, despite the hope brought by the new pres, controlling our own personal anxiety and fear is of the utmost importance.  If I told you how many times I chanted the "Fear is the Mindkiller" mantra during a stressful period (read: almost every day) you'd think I was crazy, but there are some things that just make you feel better and isn't calming our own resting pulse and keeping the chi flowing what it all comes down to?

Recently there have been a lot of Keep rip-off sightings.  Some instances, like the Vans watermelon pack, can be pinpointed to the very moment of rip off when someone at the last tradeshow made off with our lookbook.  Since they're bigger than us they can make it faster than us, but we take deep comfort in knowing that their watermelon shoes weren't exactly executed with aesthetics in mind.  Other instances, like Top Shop's pure exact rip of the Ramos, were less specific in origin but still unnerving nonetheless.  We start 2009 with the attitude we've always had about ripping -- go ahead, if you must.  We're not short in ideas so fine, take them, we'll come up with another, but don't think we don't notice.  And don't think other people don't notice either.  Really, we wish you would just do something amazing that we could rip off.  You have the money, the tools, and the power, so why not blow my mind a little and inspire me like you used to.

We spent a good part of January shooting a variety of cats and dogs for our Fall Holiday 09 Catalog/Dogalog.  Shedding a light on our feline and canine friends, we broke away from the human side of things in homage to our best friends.  Below you can see a few pics from the shoot, but we can't show too many due to the aforementioned rampant ripping.  Hope you enjoy.  Animals are cute.
